HTC Butterfly: High on features and price
HTC has made the Butterfly quite unique from its other handsets – The Butterfly is the handset maker’s first five-inch phone and the first one to come with a stunning 1080p display. With the latest Nokia, Samsung and the iPhone 5 handsets hogging the limelight, HTC Butterfly is high on features as well as price, and the latter could come as a hindrance factor to its sales.
The Butterfly will come for around Rs 45,000.

Similar to all Androids this year, the Butterfly also comes with the Android Jelly Bean, although it is the 4.1.1 version. HTC Butterfly has the latest Sense 4+, which made its debut with the One X+.
There is a 1.5 GHz quad-core CPU based on the new Krait architecture of the Butterfly. Graphics get a fillip with the Adreno 320 chip. There is 2 GB RAM for seamless use of apps.
The HTC Butterfly has 16 GB of onboard storage, but that’s flexible owing to the presence of a microSD card slot.
The Butterfly is a quad-band handset and it will function with all 2G networks around the globe. However, for 3G, there is support for just two bands. The phone needs to use a microSIM card also.
HTC’s Butterfly has one of the finest display technologies and the five-inch Super LCD 3 panel comes with a mind blowing resolution of 1920x1080. This gives it a sharp 440ppi, so photos could be even clearer than the iPhone 5.
The Butterfly has a similar 8 MP camera and video recording can be done at 1080p, which is amazing. The front camera is a 2 MP one that comes with 1080p video support also. This is the second phone in the market to support such a feature.
The HTC phone has A-GPS and GLONASS. Also NFC is there, so it can be used with tags and other accessories which support that kind of format.
The handset comes with a 2020 mAh battery and this is unlikely to do justice to the kind of myriad applications that the HTC Butterfly has.
HTC is eyeing iPhone 5 and the high-end Samsung Galaxy handsets along with Nokia. Comparing it with the iPhone 5, the HTC Butterfly has a larger and clearer screen but the battery and high price are a big worry even though the HTC handset is a more powerful one.
