Salman set to top Khans’ list with Dabangg 2

Response: Salman Khan-starrer Dabangg 2 has broken the record of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jab Tak Hai Jaan with the former earning a whopping Rs 37 crore at the start of its second week and Sallu is set to top  the Khan’s list in earnings.

At the end of the week, Dabangg 2 managed to net Rs 144 crore in the domestic market. Meanwhile, Shah Rukh’s Jab Tak Hain Jaan could manage Rs 127 crore in four weeks.

Dabangg 2’s release was well-timed. Within two weeks of its launch, there wasn’t any hit movie running in the halls, and as a result, there was no other film to snatch the movie goers away.

Salman’s Ek Tha Tiger grossed Rs 200 crore and is the second biggest-earner in Bollywood after Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots

Dabangg 2 is all set to be a serial hit for Salman after Bodyguard, Ready, Dabangg and Ek Tha Tiger.

Film type: Action.

Cast: Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Vinod Khanna, Arbaaz Khan and Prakash Raj.

Director: Arbaaz Khan.

Time of movie: Two hours and 10 minutes.

Story: Dabangg 2 is the sequel of the blockbuster film Dabangg. This time Chulbul Pandey (Salman) has to tackle crime in Kanpur, away from UP’s hinterland.

In Dabangg 2, Chulbul takes on notorious goon-turned-politician Baccha Bhaiyya (Prakash Raj). There is more for Chulbul than just tackling crime. He strengthens family ties and romances his beautiful wife. But can he take on the mighty Baccha?

Review: Dabangg 2 is yet another film for Salman Khan’s loyal fans. They are not bothered about the story. They just want the muscular Salman to beat up his enemies, and by bringing innovation to the fight sequences, Arbaaz has made the right move and struck a chord with Salman’s fans.

When Salman is at the helm of affairs, even big names like Vinod Khanna are shadowed.

When Salman is there, it is just him and his acting. Never mind whether the screenplay and direction are great or not. But of course! Salman’s romance with Sonakshi Sinha does provide the much-needed relief from the fight sequences in Dabangg 2.

Or for that matter, whether his dialogues have any rationale behind them or not does not matter. Salman has delivered them. And, that’s it! Arbaaz has been able to do this well (that is, highlight Salman and just Salman).

Go watch Dabangg 2 even if you’re not a Salman Khan fan and see him top the Bollywood Khan’s list soon.

Rating: 4/5.
