Mahindra in brand building bid with XUV500 Sportz roll out

Mahindra and Mahindra has been going for brand building of its SUVs and after the Scorpio special variant, it has rolled out a special version of the XUV500, christened Mahindra XUV500 Sportz, of which only 1,000 units of this variant will be up for grabs.

The limited edition SUV is based on the top version, namely W8 Mahindra XUV500, and carries a price tag of Rs 13.5 lakh. This is Rs 25,000 dearer compared to the XUV500 W8 vehicle.

The Mahindra XUV500 Sportz will see changes in the exterior as well as the interior such as red-and-black body decals on the bonnet as well as the doors. Moreover, the fog lamps housing, roof rails and door handles also come with red highlights. 

There is also a sporty new alloy wheels with red inserts as well as a Sportz badge on the C-pillar.

The interior will get refurbished leather-and-fabric upholstery along with a six-inch touchscreen that comes with rear camera. The Mahindra XUV500 Sportz version will also have the standard micro-hybrid technology, climate control, headlamps, LED parking lights, automatic wipers and electrical ORVM.

Speaking during the launch of the XUV500 Sportz, Vivek Nayer, chief marketing officer (automotive division), of Mahindra and Mahindra averred, "We are happy to roll out the limited edition XUV500 Sportz for our distinguished customers. We feel that it will create a new benchmark in exclusivity and further beef up the XUV500's appeal, which is strong, amongst customers."

XUV500 Sportz will come along with 140 bhp (103 Kw) mHawk engine, which belts out 330 Nm torque and a six-speed transmission.

The XUV500 is also offered with Electronic Stability Program (ESP) with rollover mitigation, six airbags (front, side and curtain), ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD), Hill Hold Control and Hill Descent Control. These are stunning safety features for an SUV in the Rs 13 lakh bracket.

Ever since the launch of XUV500 in the year 2011, Mahindra and Mahindra has sold an amazing 75,000 SUVs so far. The target for Mahindra is clearly reaching the one-lakh mark. And, this special edition will only do brand building in a big way and rev up numbers of the Mahindra XUV 500 substantially.
