Honda set to storm Indian market with CB Trigger

Honda is not confining itself to the low-end category to rev up in the bike market but is also accelerating in the 150 cc segment by rolling out the CB Trigger with a Combi Brake System or CBS as an option, which comes for a starting price of Rs 67,384 (ex-showroom Delhi), that is pretty economical, considering it is a 150 cc-category bike and this may help it storm the country’s market. The motorcycle has been priced around Rs 72,000 in Mumbai.

The Honda CB Trigger is the fourth roll out in the 150 cc category by the Japanese bike giant after the CB Unicorn, Dazzler and CBR150R.

The Honda CB Trigger.
Besides being propelled by the 150 cc engine, the Honda CB Trigger’s four-stroke mill is capable of belting out 14.14PS @ 8,500 rpm and offers a torque of 12.5 Nm @ 6,500 rpm.

So far as looks go, the new CB Trigger is an enhanced variant of the CB Twister and some design elements of the Trigger resemble the Dazzler.

However, the CB Trigger is among the first bikes in India to come with a Combi Brake System option. Under the CBS technology, both brakes are applied simultaneously, which helps in stability under hard braking conditions and reduces braking by as much as almost 30 per cent.

Honda’s CB Trigger has a litany of features such as mono-shock suspension, digital instrument panel, maintenance-free battery, tubeless tyres along with viscous air filter. According to Honda, the CB Trigger will offer a mileage of 60 km for every litre, which is quite commendable for a 150 cc machine.

The CB Trigger weighs nearly 137 kgs and offers a fuel tank capacity of 12 litres. Additional features include black alloy wheels, full gear lever, full chain case, diamond frame, 240 mm front disc brakes, 220 mm rear disc brakes, LED tail light, a heel-and-toe shifter along with a kick-start feature.

The bike will be offered in three versions – Standard (with disc brakes in the front and drum in the rear), Deluxe (with disc brakes in the front and the rear) and CBS (disc brakes in the front and CBS technology brakes in the rear).

Currently, Honda is offering the CB Trigger in three colour options – Black, Meteor Green Metallic and Pearl Siena Red.

Bookings for the bike had started in April while deliveries are slated to begin from May.

The 150-plus category bikes have lapped up 10 per cent of the total two-wheeler market in India and Honda hopes to make deeper inroads with the CB Trigger.

With the price being right and new features like CBS, Honda’s ‘still-fledging’ bike brand in India and the CB Trigger are set to storm the Indian market steadily, after the Japanese company broke away from the iconic Hero Honda brand name.
