With attractive Ritz @buzz and prudent pricing for Alto 800 VXI, Maruti’s market share could go up

Maruti Suzuki’s sales has been going down (for instance, by 15 per cent in May) and it is going all out to woo buyers with the attractive limited edition Ritz @buzz and by rolling out the VXI variant of its Alto 800 (with airbag and prudent pricing), which could make a mark in the compact car segment.

The Maruti Suzuki’s limited edition, Ritz @buzz, offers 12 new features, according to the company.

The Maruti Suzuki Ritz @buzz.
On the exterior front, there is snazzy body graphics, which extends on the side of the car along with the bootlid.

There is also a ‘strong’ bumper protector included in this limited edition car. A set of ‘durable’ mud flaps is also a part of the new exterior.

The limited edition Buzz is priced Rs 17,990 more than the current models. Maruti Ritz @buzz edition (ex-showroom Delhi) prices are as follows:

LXI: Rs 4.50 lakh

VXI: Rs 4.85 lakh

LDI: Rs 5.60 lakh

VDI: Rs 5.92 lakh

There are ‘stylish’ doorsill guards, which the auto major has introduced in the new variant. The Ritz @buzz also offers the ‘Ritz branded’ art leather seat covers. It has ‘elegant’ steering wheel cover.

The new Ritz also comes with a slew of utilities. The Ritz @buzz has durable floor mats and a parcel tray on the rear but this was offered earlier in the higher variants of the car.

It even comes with door visors, which the automaker claims is ‘smart’. The new Ritz is commendable so far as features go, with the Buzz having six speakers and a Nippon 2-DIN audio system capable of USB and Bluetooth.

There are rear-parking sensors also. The car has a rear spoiler, which does not come as part of the standard equipment.

Alto 800 VXI rolled out

The Alto 800 has been given a slew of new features with roll out of the top-end VXI variant.

The Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 VXI comes with certain modifications, which are not mind blowing though. The VXI, for instance, has additional features such as central locking, a USB compatible stereo with four speakers, left outside rear view mirror along with a driver’s side airbag as standard.

The pricing has been good though. Priced at Rs 3.17 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 VXI is Rs 13,581 dearer compared to the Alto 800 LXI (Delhi prices).

Cosmetic upgrades include door side mouldings and a rear spoiler.

Other equipment in the Alto 800 VXI are air conditioner with heater, power steering, front power windows, dual tone upholstery, dual trip meter, clock, remote fuel lid and hatch opener, tubeless tyres along with body coloured bumpers and door handles.

So, with the attractive Ritz @buzz edition and VXI model of the Alto 800, which has airbags and is priced a tad above the LXI model, Maruti could see an improvement in its market share.
