Should Ford get Focus, the world’s highest selling car, to India?

So, finally the US has overtaken Japan (after many years) as the maker of the world’s highest selling car with America’s Ford Motors’ Focus overtaking the Toyota Corolla, which has achieved the milestone of the highest selling car on several occasions and should Ford (which plans to rev up operations in India) bring the Focus into the country soon?

According to a top research firm, Ford sold 1,020,410 of Focus cars worldwide last year and a quarter of the sales were in the US whereas the Toyota Corolla logged total sales of 872,774 units, being beaten by the American company hands down.

The Ford Focus ST model.
As per information, Ford’s sales (especially of cars like Fiesta and Focus) remained high in Europe and there was a sales spurt in the US. Probably this led to the feat by the American company.

In China too, Ford’s Focus achieved a sales of nearly three lakh.

The Focus’s features are amazing. It accelerates by the mere push of the optional start button.

The 2013 Focus, the latest model of the car, comes with the standard 2.0 litre Ti-VCT I-4 engine, which is high on both performance as well as efficiency.

It contains Electric-Power Assisted Steering or EPAS (present in the 2013 Focus only), which responds to the car owners inputs.

The dual-clutch six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission of the Ford Focus delivers efficiency of a manual and also offers the easy operation like that of a premium automatic transmission.

There is also the Torque Vectoring Control feature, which helps distribute torque to suit myriad driving conditions and aids in getting more traction while negotiating curves.

The new Ford Focus also offers Electronic Stability Control or ESC with Anti-Lock Brake System or ABS, which is standard on every model of the Focus.

The Ford Focus also has a ST model, which has a near perfect sound and feel, owing to its high output - 252 horsepower 2.0 litre EcoBoost engine, high-quality brakes and a fine-tuned sport suspension.

So far as designing goes, the ultra high strength boron steel fortifies the Focus, adding protection while reducing weight.

It also offers the voice-activated technology, which comes handy during a drive, helping the driver to keep an eye on the road and also stay connected to his favourite music.

The price range of the Ford Focus is between $17,000 and $23,000 in the US (Rs 9 lakh to Rs 12.5 lakh approximately).

So, to rev up numbers further, Ford must get the Focus to India in the short to medium term.
