Budget handset Moto E sees roaring sales

Motorola had taken a Sabbatical from the country for two years but bounced back and returned recently by launching the Moto X and the Moto G, and now, it has rolled out a below Rs 10,000 smartphone, the budget Moto E, for Rs 6,999, which is witnessing roaring sales.

The dual SIM phone operates on the latest Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS, and the company has said that it would upgrade the Moto E to the next version of the Android OS. Moto E is offered with a 4.3-inch display with 960x540p resolution, and this is its USP. It is the only smartphone in its price bracket that comes with a high quality display.

The Moto E smartphone has a 1.2 GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor with 1 GB RAM and 4 GB internal storage. This phone supports microSD cards for storage expansion, which is not available in the Moto X and G models.

Motorola’s affordable phone comes with a 5 MP camera on the back but does not have rear LED flash or front camera.

The smartphone has a pretty good 1,980 mAh battery and, as per the company, it can last a full 24 hours once fully charged. The Moto E can access the internet via 2G, 3G and Wi-Fi networks. It facilitates data transfer via microUSB 2.0 and Bluetooth 4.0.

Motorola has a nano-coating on the Moto E that will make the smartphone resistant to splashes, so that it does not get wet in the rain, as this could damage to the handset.

Moto E will be available in black as well as white colours and also on offer are swappable back covers and grip shells.

With the Moto E, Motorola is eyeing the large number of mobile phone users who are flocking for budget smartphones.

According to stats, the age of flagship smartphones is over and mid-range handsets will now hog the limelight and see an unprecedented sales surge.

Moto E has several advantages over its Samsung rival, the Star Pro. The resolution of Moto E is much higher.

The Star Pro has single-core processor whereas the Moto E comes with a dual-core one. The Galaxy handset does not have 3G and comes with a 2 MP camera (the Moto E has 5 MP camera as well as 3G).

With so many features packed in a budget handset, Moto E has already witnessed roaring sales through FlipKart (from where the Moto E phone is now being exclusively sold) and set a record of sorts – Motorola has sold 80,000 smartphones in less than a day – and  this is simply magical!
