Fiat rolls out Linea T-Jet in two variants

Despite sagging sales, Fiat is betting on its Linea brand, rolling out the Linea T-Jet, which will come in two models.

The Fiat Linea T-Jet normal version carries a price tag of Rs 8.84 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai) while the T-Jet Plus will be available with imported leather upholstery and alloy wheels and be priced at Rs 9.29 lakh (ex-showroom Mumbai).

The Fiat Linea T-Jet has added 13 features and set new standards in performance, safety, comfort, ride, handling and in-car infotainment. The company had last month said it will come up with a new engine for the Linea series. The new T-Jet engine will come with a maximum power of 114 PS at 5,000 rpm and a torque of 207 Nm.

The Linea T-Jet will be the first sedan to have a turbo-charged petrol engine. The Linea T-Jet has 5-speed manual transmission, 16 inch alloy wheels for the T-Jet Plus and boot capacity is 500 litres. The T-Jet has also added safety features such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD and four disc brakes.

The Fiat Linea T-Jet has airconditioning ideal for Indian weather conditions. It is believed to have 40% more torque than its competitors. Fuel efficiency of the Linea T-Jet is around 14.6 km per litre and the car can touch 100 km/hour in 11.14 seconds.

Speaking at the launch, Fiat India Automobiles president and CEO Rajeev Kapoor said, “The Linea T-Jet is a product that has been refined according to feedback from customers. It literally sets a benchmark in the C plus segment with its robust engine and litany of features. Linea T-Jet is sure to give competition in the C plus segment.”

The two variants will come in eight different colours and be available in Tata showrooms in Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and the NCR before expanding reach to other cities in the later part of the year.

However, despite the mesmerising looks of the Fiat Linea T-Jet, the fuel efficiency is a key issue that may prompt car buffs to give a rethink before buying the car.
