Is Motorola Droid Razr’s price too steep?

After lying low for quite a while, especially after the onset of the 3G revolution in India, Motorola is shoring up presence in the smartphone market in the country by rolling out the Motorola Droid Razr, which it claims is the world’s slimmest smartphone that will come for a steep Rs 33,990.

Motorola had earlier revealed that it was planning to bring in the model within a month, and with the company revealing its plan to roll out the handset now, Flipkart has already started taking orders.

The Motorola Droid Razr
One of the key features of Motorola’s Droid Razr is its form. It has thickness of 7 mm and is no doubt one of the best in the industry.

Besides this, it also comes with a 4.3-inch display, an 8-MP camera along with an incredible 1.2 GHz dual-core processor.

The Motorola Droid Razr runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system.

It has a multi-touch, accelerometer along with a proximity sensor. It comes with a 1 GB RAM, 16 GB internal storage and 32 GB external memory support.

Just like Cloud applications, Motorola has equipped this Motorola Droid Razr smartphone with a Motocast app, which is capable of providing Cloud storage at MyMotoCast.com. It will also have Wi-Fi syncing and secure access.

The Motorola Droid Razr will be supported by a 1,780 mAh battery, which is very powerful.

The Super AMOLED touchscreen is inside a Gorilla glass coating and has a resolution of 540 x 960 p.

The handset will also have business-class encoding and VPN access as additional features. It will already have a smart actions app that will provide aid in optimising battery, chart out tasks and reminders. It will also remember different Wi-Fi connections.

The Motorola Droid Razr also comes with FM radio along with RDS, 3.5 mm hands-free socket and HDMI-Out.

The Motorola Droid Razr wasn’t rolled out with the Ice Cream Sandwich OS, which was planned earlier.

With Motorola having tie-ups with Google, it was felt that this will facilitate all kinds of updates. But Google wanted Samsung to come out with the Ice Cream Sandwich enabled Galaxy Nexus.

The features being provided do sound amazing but Motorola is back with a bang after a period of two years and other handset makers such as Samsung and LG along with home-grown ones like Micromax have gained substantial ground during this period.

So, Motorola coming back with a bang with a costly handset may not auger well for the company as it has almost become a forgotten brand in India by now and the only way the company can ramp up sales is by creating awareness on these amazing features, which could lead to decent sales for the Motorola Droid Razr.
